This was a very good good week! Our district
got to clean the Calgary Canada Temple on Saturday! It was so amazing! We had
to get there earlier so we did not have time to do our studies. When we got
there they scanned our recommends and they give us white scrubs, and because we
did not do our personal study they gave us 30 minutes to study in the Celestial
Room! That was the coolest thing ever! After that we started to clean. I went
into all of the mechanical rooms with some other elders and we dusted, swept,
and mopped the floor. And we helped move some chairs so they could vacuum. They
took us into every room, even back to the Celestial Room. There we were able to
ask any questions and talk about deep doctrine. They took us up to the roof of
the temple too! That was so cool, and I was able to pick up some pieces of granite
that were laying at the top along with the rocks. So I will send home some of
that. :) Also I sent home some hats too!:)
Transfers
are next week so I will be emailing again on Tuesday. And I know that I am getting
transferred because they called us, and told us to start cleaning out our
basement now (we are living with members) because they are going to close down
my area! And so some other missionaries in Airdrie will cover it. (1st ward
will also have to cover my area, which is 2nd ward) the reason for this is
because we have been so disobedient, and we are not doing missionary work so they
are closing the area down. Haha just kidding :) the reason is because there are
so many missionaries going home and not very many coming out this transfer.
Next transfer I heard that they are closing down 4 more areas. They will reopen
when more missionaries come out. So that is one of the biggest things that we
will be doing is power clean our pad. I’m kinda sad that I’m getting
transferred because I like this area and Costa Vida.
This week we
visited this family. The dad is a member but he has been less active for like
18-24 years and the wife is Catholic and so are the kids. When we visited them
she was saying "whenever the sister missionaries came over (my area use to
be covered by sister missionaries before it got purged) they would always
invite us to church, but I always said no because I just don't feel
comfortable." SO we were saying HOW CAN WE MAKE YOU FEEL CONFORMABLE? She
thinks about it for a while and talks to her daughter because she was getting
ready to leave for a friend’s house. And then she tell us “sure I'll go. We
will give it a try.” So that Sunday, sure enough, they came to church. The kids
loved it and the whole family liked it. One thing
that the wife said about the Catholic church that she did not like was that
there was no communication. You just go and leave. But when they came to our
church there was a LOT of people introducing themselves and there was a lot of
fellowship that was really good!:)
About 3 weeks
ago we handed out service flyers to all different kinds of business and we got
a call from this lady and she wants help moving, so we have been helping her
move boxes and other stuff to storage. That was what I did on my birthday, all
day long was helping her move. I wanted to go to Costa Vida but we did not get
the time. But it was worth it helping her. She said that once as everything is
done with the move then she would like us to teach her. She said that she would
listen. So before it was a lottery what area was she going to move to and who
was going to teach her. But now that does not matter because I’m leaving.
Something
super crazy happened last week. We had zone conference and then we went out to
eat at the Airdrie Wok. It’s a Chinese Buffet and its super good. When we went
in they were kinda busy so we waited for a table to clear, so during that time
we sat at a smaller table and I sat at this other table with is guy. He said
that I could sit there. Turns out he’s a member and he said "Zone
Conference?" and I said yep. He introduced himself and he’s in one of the
wards.
They got a
table ready so we all go sit there and I say good-bye to him. Then he gets up to
leave and pay for his meal. Later the waitress said that the gentleman that
over there paid for you. Not only did he pay for his meal he paid for all of
our meals too! A Lunch buffet is $11.00 and there were 5 of us
missionaries so that bill was about $66.00! So that was nice.
