March 23, 2015

This week was good. We did not meet our goal to teach 20 lessons. March Madness is going on and it is also Spring Break out here in da north., so it might be harder to reach our goal. The weather is bipolar here. Some days its warm some days its cold. We will be getting snow tonight, somewhere around 3-5 cm, but that will all be gone within the week. The snow here, it is like air! All it is - is powder, you can sweep the snow off the sidewalks with a garage broom or blow it off with a leaf blower.

We helped a PI move on Saturday. That was really fun, hopefully we  will be able to teach them in the future. But he will be out of town at the beginning of April. We also had like 11 baptisms on Saturday. 4 of them were from our ward. (All 11 were 8 year old) In one of the other wards one of the missionaries in my district baptized a girl and I was able to be one of the witnesses. Her knee came out of the water so she had to be baptized again. We also gave her the gift of the Holy Ghost and confirmed her a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which was also a good experience. One of the families in our ward that had their son’s baptism is Filipino and they had lunch after the baptism. They had a roasted pig! I wish I was there. I have always wanted to eat a roasted pig. But we had to help someone move.

Our WML is really cool! He has a strong personality. He’s really cool and he’s a big time hunter. He gave us some antelope meat that has been marinated for two days. It was so good! He has 10 brothers and sisters. He has three brothers and one sister in the ward and they all live right next to each other.

Last week we had interviews with the Mission President and we had car inspections on Thursday, Interviews went well and we passed car inspections. I was able to inspect my district’s cars. We drive a Subaru Impreza. I have been driving Seubs my whole mission, I like the. They handle really well in the snow. Our Bishop took us out for lunch at this Chinese Buffet. It was AMAZING! It’s a nice place. For dinner they bring out duck, alligator stuff like that. Our bishop is a cool guy. He’s very smart and he knows his stuff. He’s a Personal Injury Lawyer.

I got a call from the mission office.  When I answered the phone they said that I was just the person that they wanted to talk to!:) They said that they held before them a ticket! And the license plate number matched the car that I drive!  They said luckily it is a parking ticket, and that it is $40.00 we were parked too close to a yield sign (in Canada you have to park 5m away from all road sings) They told me that the ticket was issued on the 25th of February. I said that was not me. I was not the person driving because the 25th is before transfers, so I was in Airdrie at the time. They said okay that’s right. They asked if I knew who was driving before me so I told them and they said okay thank you very much, we will give him a call!

We got a phone call from a former investigator. She called us and said that she wanted to join the church and that she has found strength by reading the Book of Mormon and it has helped her overcome some of her addiction problems. She said that she wanted to come to church and that she will ask her neighbor (our WML) if she could get a ride. After that call we called our WML to ask him what he could tell us about this person.
He said she is crazy, and out of her mind, She’s always drunk. She use to work for an oil company making like a quarter of a million a year (something crazy like that.) Whenever the missionaries have taught her she has been drunk. So we have to reteach everything.  She had a nice Corvette but she wrecked it because she was under the influence.  That’s why she can’t drive. (this is what our WML told us). I told Kevin (WML) maybe this is where our 20 lessons is going, and he got really excited.
So it is going to be really interesting to work with her. She invited us to dinner on Wednesday, she said that she is going to have a turkey dinner. We told Kevin that, and he said  she has done that before with the other missionaries. When they came knocking on the door she was drunk and forgot about it. She had them come in and she left and walked to Sobeys (store like Maceys) and bought a frozen turkey, and had some more to drink. When she came back home she said she was too tired and she went to bed. So then Kevin and the missionaries left. Thats the story that I have, I hope it makes sense.

I saw that Shay got a new Porsche! That’s so nice. I saw a picture of it. Didn't Nancy get an Audi? What kind is it?

Mar. 16, 2015

This week was hard and good. We met our goal to teach 20 lessons so that was good, Today we are emailing at the Calgary Library because the family history center is closed so we can not use the computers there. So I will not be able to send any pictures today. Next week I’ll send some pictures.

We want to make 20 lessons a goal every week. Bishop thinks that's a great idea. But it is going to be really hard because everyone is busy. So lets hope that we will be able to do the 20 lessons again this week with March Madness going on.

This week we have interviews with president so that will be nice.
I saw some pictures of Brad coming home and at his homecoming. That's really cool. Time just flies!

At the beginning of last week I knew that we were not going to reach our goal, but when we went to meet with our WML (every Tuesday) we told him about that goal that we have. So he told his wife to post that goal on the RS Facebook page and so she did and no joke, about 5 minutes later we get like 2 texts from members in the ward saying that we can come over. So that helped a lot.

It snowed last night so there is snow outside.

General Conference is coming up again! I'm excited to watch that.

Last week our zone did a service project for, I think it was a potential investigator. We did some renovations so that was really fun.

That’s about all that happened last week

March 9, 2015

WOW so Callie is getting baptized! That’s so amazing! I saw her pictures they were amazing! She looked so good in her new dress! If possible see if you can get the missionaries serving in the your ward and have them teach Callie the lessons. That way she will have a better understanding of things and the missionaries there can get the numbers. haha

Sounds like winter down there was just great! It must have been nice because there was not a lot of work removing snow or whipping out the snow blower. Its a good thing that I’m not there dad so you can’t blame me for braking the snow blower! haha:)  People here say that this winter we had was a LOT better than last year! Last year was really really bad, super cold, like -40 c cold. But it is really nice out here. Its starting to warm up. People here say that summers are really nice it gets in the upper 20s lower 30s. It’s a lot cooler than Trail. that’s good because it was really warm over there.

That’s crazy to hear that Brad gets home this week, Time just flies.
This week for me went by so fast! So that’s good. We tried to do the 20 lessons last week but it did not happen, so we are going to try it this week!

Last week we visited lots of LAs and some LARCs (Less Active Recent Convert) and we did some service, we helped put up a tramp for a member. We had lots of stuff that the last missionaries left so we had to borrow a truck and we filled it up and I had to take it to the landfill. I typed Land Fill in my GPS and it pulls up CCS- Land Fill Services. So I clicked on it and drive where it takes me. It takes me to DOWNTOWN CALGARY! I was driving a truck full of junk in down town during rush hour! So I had it take me back to the mission office and we get our car back and headed home because we had a dinner apt. When we headed to our dinner apt. which is a ways out of town, we passed the land fill! So I guess that place in downtown was the offices or something.

So the next day we went back to the mission office and picked up the truck again and took it to the landfill. Then we washed the truck because they asked us to because it was very dirty to start out with and they said that they would reimburse me, so I washed it. Then we took it back and got our car back and got on with business.

My GPS is so helpful! But I need to update the maps because sometimes it tries to make me turn onto roads that do not exist.

So there is this family that the last missionaries have been meeting with. They are super cool. They are moving and they called us to help them move so we are going to help them move. They will still be in our area so that is good.

There is a family in the ward that is friends with this other family that are not members. The family that is not members lost a baby. He was alive for only 17 minutes. So anyways, they have not been doing very well because of that, and also the wife has pneumonia and so they have kinda turned away from God. But they were at dinner with the members. She accepted a priesthood blessing and that went really well!

That’s about it. This week we will be doing the 20 lessons.

Congrats Callie on your baptism. That so is cool. I’m proud of you.

March 2, 2015
My new area is still in Calgary. New Brighton is the area. I am serving as DL and I’m also a trainer. The person that we helped move out is taking the discussions from the other missionaries because she said that she would listen to us. I do not have the same comp (thank-goodness)  My new comp is Elder Hopoi. He’s from Long Beach Ca. He is right from the MTC. he’s a sweet guy.
The place that we live in is SO SO SO nice! ITS HUGE. Its probably the biggest living place in the whole mission.    We live in like a town house its 3 stories, 2 1/2 bathroom, and there is a garage to park the car!

The ward is AWESOME. They are missionary ward for sure. They love missionary work and they help out the missionaries all the time. The last missionaries there said that they got about $400 from the members.

This last week we were going to members’ houses and trying to get to know the members better because we are both new in this area.

Our battery died so we called a member in the ward and he jump started us, so that was nice...We do have a Costa Vida in this area so that’s good.

Our WML is really cool. He’s a big time hunter so we got to eat some deer when we had dinner at his house.

Our bishop is a good guy too. He’s really smart, and he’s a Personal Injury Lawyer.

So sounds like we are moving! Sweet. Find a place on the Bench or cliffside or somewhere like that! My say is that we stay somewhere in Providence. So the market is at a low. So that’s good for the sellers because it’s a sellers market?

Make sure that you guys take care of my dog, Someone cut his nails if they are still there.
